Ford C-Max Owners (Phone Holder Advice needed)

Hey PP Gang,

I've just got a more modern Ford C-Max and it has vertical air vent slats instead of the horizontal ones on my old C-Max. There seems nowhere to attach my existing phone holder/cradle in order to do Google Maps navigation with my phone. So far I can't see anything on eBay or by googling that looks like it will work on the new vertical vents. Has anyone else encountered this problem, & found a suitable solution?

Get one that sticks to the windscreen

I use this cradle for my air vents and the design of it means it can be used on vertical air vents too. Hopefully it works for you too! I've found it nice and sturdy on my long trips around the country so far

Thank so far Everyone.

ps. Thanks for the link Merica, but unfortunately the advert does not actually show it working successfully on the C-Max style vertical air vents.

Get a satnav so you won't be tempted to use the phone when driving?

Have a look at Brodit phone holders.  They are the gold standard for mounting kit in cars, which will fit into the centre console trim rather than the vents.

You can get holders that used the CD slot.   CD slot mount I think it was called.

Whilst I don't have the same car I now use RAM mounts in my Land Rover, rock solid but pricey.

I've seen some phone mounts that swivel. They could possibly work, might be worth having a look at some or message suppliers and ask. I also noticed one on amazon that clamps to dash edge similar to the shape at the top of your centre dash module.

Timmee Can't for the life of me figure out how this thing works. But I stumbled upon it looking for something entirely unrelated on eBay a few weeks back. But the service dept. at your local Ford dealer would probably know...

Just remember it is illegal to have anything on the windscreen that would be within the wiper area

In my day we had a Youth Opportunities Programme, shortly followed by the Youth Training Scheme. You could pay very little money to get some poor kids from the streets to do work you didn’t want to. Basically legalised slavery for teenagers. Something for all the young ‘uns to do now they’re no longer cleaning the chimneys for middle-ages well heeled British people.

Surely a modern thinking progressive government like ours has some similar scheme where the local council hires out underprivileged Gen Z roustabouts for this very purpose. They could hide in the footwell and hold your phone at eye-height for you. Might even be able to increase your followers on Tik-Tok whilst they’re at it.

Yep, Brodit phone holders are way better than the rest. There will be several mounts specific to your car, which you connect to a holder specific to your phone.

You will cry a little at the cost…..     but worth it.     ;)

Cheers Danny -the only thing dissuading me from adopting this very practical sounding solution the high probability of abuse of power & #MeToo allegations. 🤣

I think I must live in a different world as the Brodie setup for my car and phone is half the price of the Belkin kit I use now? YMMV.

Which I now see has had its price slashed by £40…
