Retiring from modelling

So I have decided to retire from modelling. I do feel sad and will miss it but also it effecting my mental health.

Recently photographers have pointed out my weight gain, saying I need to slim down, I’m too neich looking and it starts to take affect.

Friends say don’t let it get to you, rise above them but it’s not that easy especially when I know I’m not a slim model anymore.

I try castings and don’t get no work and I even offer tfp.

So after 18 years of modelling, and I was a great model back in the day! Published in magazines and modelled for some great clothing companies.

Any other models have the same problem?

And this is the first time I’ve ever created a post here!!

Sorry to hear this. You have a versatile port. Wish you well in your next venture. 😁

I trust we all wish you the best in whatever is the next phase.

Enjoy that also.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you were suitably rude to the photographers.

FWIW I think you have a great look, if you were closer to me I'd have loved the opportunity to work with you.

The fickle photographers that pass judgement on any weight gain are the ones with the problem - not you - and are probably best avoided.

A shame you're retiring - all the best to you for where ever you go next.

So what if you've put a few extra lbs on, I bet those photographers who have criticised your appearance are absolutely no where near healthy themselves. So give them two middle fingers, and carry on doing what you love las if it makes you happy.

You look great, don't worry about what a few idiots may think.

I think you have an amazing look and versatile port. If I didn't live across the country, I would gladly shoot with you. But you ultimately have to look out for yourself first. I hope that you find success in whatever you do next.

It was lovely to meet you at Somerleyton Hall last year and have a good chat.Sorry you are giving up modelling but I know how much you enjoy photography and I wish you well with it.As others have said already pay no heed to those gainsayers. I think you look fabulous.

After a period of reflection, I'd love to think you would reconsider...

TheFuntographer

I have tried to book shoots with photographers and don’t seem to get any interest. I get avoided at group shoots lately so unfortunately if no one wants to work with me there’s no point in modelling

Thank you all for the comments

Sadly being older and on the more curvier side shall we say, I do feel that we often get overlooked for the younger generation who do not bear the 'scars of motherhood'.

Therefore I always feel I have to work ten times harder for paid castings, hit it harder when it comes to promoting studios days just to be on par.

I've hit mid-forties so yeah, pre-menopausal weight gain has become an issueand ive had tocwork really hard to limit the weight gain.

Hence why I have greatly reduced the number of shoots I do and am focusing more on the other side of the camera.

I do not expect to be modelling this time next year as I know my days are now numbered.

I truly feel for you and wish you all the best as I know you will still be linked to the industry through your work as a photographer

Mel4nie thank you, it’s a real shame because us older models have so much to give, people always comment on my poses. It’s a shame because I don’t really want to walk away, still have loads of outfits I want to shoot in lol
