I meant your first sentence. Aren't they the same thing

can't you just replace the flash bulb unit rather than the whole light unit, what is actually broken

Yes you can replace the bulb but it's the actual light itself.

I have an unused bowens mount strobe unit sitting around available if thats of any use to you? I need to go dig up the exact details but I think its a 400ws or 500ws mains powered strobe.

It depends how much you want for it including postage
